Hapkido is a Way of Life, with the goal being “Perfection of Character,” attained through the coordination of Mind, Body and Spirit, by practicing meditation, “breath control,” (Ki exercises) and the rigorous physical martial art techniques of Hapkido. Hapkido is a powerful and innovative Korean martial art. The word Hap means coordination of harmony. Ki denote the essence of power and Do means the art or the way. Grand Master Wohlwend studied multiple years under the late Grand Master Bong Soo Han. We continue his legacy and curriculum with first student Master Eric Friske's support.
The style of Jujutsu we teach is a Japanese martial art and a method of close combat for defeating an armed and armored opponent in which one uses no weapon or only a short weapon. "Ju" can be translated to mean "gentle, supple, flexible, pliable, or yielding." "Jitsu" can be translated to mean "art" or "technique" and represents manipulating the opponent's force against himself rather than confronting it with one's own force.
Instruction of all these arts are done under the direction of a panel of 9th Dan Grand Masters.
